GB IT Board’s Vision for Safer Communities

                                   In its mission to build a digitally empowered Gilgit-Baltistan, the GB IT Board is extending the power of technology to one of the region’s most critical areas—Law & Order. By integrating modern digital solutions into policing and public safety operations, the Board is working to improve security, enhance transparency, and build trust between law enforcement and citizens. One of the key initiatives is the digitalization of police records, enabling law enforcement agencies to manage case files, FIRs, and criminal databases through secure, centralized systems. This move not only streamlines internal workflows but also minimizes the risks of data loss and manipulation. The Board is also supporting the deployment of Computerized Complaint Management Systems (CMS) in police stations, making it easier for citizens to lodge complaints, track their status, and receive timely updates. This system increases accountability and improves public access to justice. In partnership with local law enforcement, the GB IT Board is exploring the use of GIS mapping and surveillance technologies for crime mapping, hotspot analysis, and emergency response planning. These tools help decision-makers proactively address security concerns and allocate resources more effectively. Further efforts include the training of police personnel in cybercrime awareness and digital literacy, ensuring they are equipped to handle emerging challenges in the digital age. By bringing innovation into law and order systems, the GB IT Board is not only improving operational efficiency but also laying the groundwork for a more secure, responsive, and citizen-friendly environment in Gilgit-Baltistan.
